New 2013 implementation... Two Servers (Front End and Back End) both running Exchange 2013.

I am having trouble sending a local AD Exchange mailbox mail to external SMTP address.  I have tried several options.. I have created an "contact" as was required in previous versions.  I have created new AD accounts with external SMTP addresses, I have also attempted to use the scriptlet:

    Set-Mailbox -Identity "%AD-USER%" -DeliverToMailboxAndForward $true -ForwardingSMTPAddressexternaluser@mail.com  (%AD-USER% was actual AD Username/mailbox) andexternaluser@mail.com was actual receipient SMTP address (username@gmail.com)

Local AD Mailbox receives the mail appropriately however I have enabled forwarding everyway I know how and nothing seems to work.  If I send mail straight from my account to the destination SMTP address, they get it; just not if it is sent to the local AD account then forwarded via -DeliverToMailboxAndForward command...

Please help.. I have several users that I need to have their mail CC'd to an external SMTP address.. Previous versions of Exchange required a "Contact" to be created and then the mailbox forwarded to that contact, which had a SMPT mail address...

Im not adverse to implementing via powershell if I can just get it to work... Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and needed.

    Hello ,

We have a requirement to send fax from outlook client to rightfax server

    Softwares :

    Exchange Server 2013

    Outlook 2007/2010/2013

The approach we have thought like below .

    1. Email Address format is like [RFAX:John Doe@/FN=555-555-1212]

       2.  Created one user mail box called "RightFax" to these fax mails.

             3. Transport rule to redirect   mails to "RightFax" user when recipient email address contains word "RFAX"

    The issue is like below

When we send mail through outlook client it is returning undeliverable mail to sender like below

    From  : System Administrator

    SUbject : Undeliverable

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached None of your e-mail accounts could send to this recipient
    RFAX:John Doe@/FN=555-555-1212

Could you please us on this.

Below is the header information (I have anonymized the information) from an email send a few days ago that was reported to me because when User1 replied to it, instead of it going back to ProblemUser, it went to User3.  Upon examination of the header, we can see that ProblemUser's reply to address appears to be setup as User3 - there is no rhyme or reason behind this.  I just checked again for the sake of sanity and ProblemUsers email reply to setting is still set toproblemuser@domain.com.  I have no clue why this is happening.  I have just asked problemuser to send me an email to verify its still an issue but wanted to get some feedback in the meantime.  Header reads as follows:

    Greetings,

The Exchange 2013 not supports outlook 2003. due to that I have to configure exchange account as POP3 account, but after configuration i am receiving the following error. "Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients, Server error: '550 5.7.1 Unable to relay'"

I can send emails within the organization but not able to send mails to outside of organization.

    Regards,

    Hi,

I am having Exchange Server 2013 installed in my network. Suddenly It stopped receiving external emails, while users are able to send and receive internal emails and can send emails to external domains.

I have restarted all the services one by one but no luck.

    Any idea please.

  • 04/24/13--05:08: 421 4.3.2 Service not active
  • Hi,

E2K13CU1 with default settings added to working existing E2K10SP3 organization.

Mail doesn't leave Drafts folder (sent form OWA).

Telnet to server at port 25 responds after MAIL FROM: with:

421 4.3.2 Service not active (exactly - didn't found anything like this anywhere)

I checked DNS (also set custom DNS config in E2K13 ecp, all services are running, no custom AV, no low disk space, no events.

    Thank you

    Richard

Current configuration - Exchange server 2010 retrieves email, distributes incoming email to mailboxes, sends outgoing mail out, shares calendars and contacts, allows OWA users to login for email, also external users VPN into the LAN and pickup their emails through Outlook when attached through the vpn.

Would like to disable the retrieval, distribution of email by the exchange server, also the OWA feature. Keep the contact and calendar sharing, and use the exchange server to backup our outlook clients.  On the outlook clients add a pop3 client as the default account that would send/receive emails, and keep them in the exchange mailbox.  Exchange would become a secondary account in the Outlook account settings.

Does this sound possible? If so how would you proceed?

    Hi,
I have a 2013 installed and working - both with incoming mail and outgoing mail when using Outlook and similar clients.

No problems sending mail from and to either internal or external domains. However, I want to authenticate with the standard SMTP server with a username + password and send e-mail using "standard clients".

I cannot get this to work. In code, when I authenticate through SMTP (user/pass) and tries to send an email from "user@mydomain.com" to "user@anotherdomain.com", I get the error:

Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay.

I don't really know how to set this up to get it working. In an existing Exchange 2007, I had no problem setting this up, but I cannot get it to work in 2013. If I add "*" to accepted domain, it works, of course, but that gives me an Open Relay.

I have a default send connector, mapped to the SMTP domain "*".

How do I configure so that all authenticated users can relay freely?

    Hi,

I have a strange problem, I have installed Exchange Server 2013 CU1 as First Exchange server into my Server 2012 AD environment on a separate server. My problem is:I cannot send mail to myself or any internal users. I can send external mail.

--When I send mail in delivery reports

    Delivery Report for user ‎(user@)‎
    Submitted
    5/15/2013 12:20 EXCHANGE
The message was submitted to exchange

    Pending
    5/15/2013 12:20 exchange
Message was received by exchange from EXCHANGE

    5/15/2013 12:20 exchange
The message has been queued on server 'exchange' since 5/15/2013 12:20:43 PM (UTC+02:00) . The last attempt to send the message was at 5/15/2013 12:17:43 PM (UTC+02:00) and generated the error '[{LRT=};{LED=};{FQDN=};{IP=}]'.

    --Also in my smtp logs;
451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with: ""501 5.5.4 Required arguments not present.""
451 4.7.0 Temporary server error. Please try again later. PRX4 ,

My settings are default settings. I cannot figure the problem, any suggesstions?

  • 05/29/13--06:30: SMTP Alias issue
  • Hey all, I am hoping someone could shed some light on this issue.

Long story short, (I know this is a 2013 forum but I am doing this on 2003, I still hope someone can help)

I created an email alias for one user (intern) when that user was finished I tried removing it from that user and adding it to another user....exchange allowed me to do this and did not give any errors.

    However,

Now it seems exchange thinks that alias is still attached to the old user and as such does not route to the new intern and does not give any error when sent to that address. Is there any way I could fix this?

    Thanks a lot!

    JD

    Dear All,

My Customer need to disable User Account and Mailbox in Exchange 2007. After disable both, they need to do forwarding message from disable mailbox to another mailbox(Boss's Mailbox) for tracking. Then I set transporter rule for choose rule "Blind carbon copy (Bcc) the message to..." for forwarding message to their manager but that messages can't forward because mailbox was disabled.

Do you have another way help about this requirement? If my customer need to disable User Account and User's Mailbox of resign person and then forwarding that message to their manager

      Thank you very much

I am in the process of migrating to Exchange 2013 (from 2010)

I have installed 2 2013 servers (1 cas and 1 mbx). I created a database and migrated some pilot users. The users have been able to work for about a week without issues. But since last weekend, they don't receive incoming mail from external domains. Internal incoming mail as well as all outgoing mail works fine.

I have pinpointed the issue to the following: The receive connector listenes to port 25 (I can telnet the port). But it only responds (220 <CASservername>.<domain>.local Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service ready at Mon, 3 Jun 2013 14:33:38 +0200)

It does not respond to a telnet session from any other location (e.g. the edge server or a server in the same subnet). The connection is established but no response is shown. As soon as the first character is typed, the connection is broken.

ExRCA showes "A connection was established but a banner was never received" so this points to the same issue.

To recap: telnet <ipaddress CAS> 25 does give response from CAS server itself, but not from any other location.

I allready tested with the FW off. AV is SCEP 2012.

How to troubleshoot this issue? The only thing that has changed over the weekend, is the installation of the latest security patches.

    Regards,
    Stephan

You know you're an engineer when you have no life and can prove it mathematically

    All,

We have a client that requires securing emails by allowing replies only from the account the email was sent to originally.

In other words, if an email was sent to user1@mydomain.com, replies to that email and all future correspondance to that email can be made from user1@mydomain only, and all attempts to communicate from other accounts in mydomain.com fail with ndr.

Currently, the client is on Exchange 2007, and will migrate to 2013 in the next few months.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

I have an issue trying to encrypt an email message and sending it to someone. The error which i'm facing is "Microsoft outlook cannot sign or encrypt this message because the certificate is not valid". I've never used this SMIME feature of outlook. Referred few articles and blogs but couldn't get any clue. I've managed to get the user certificate for myself from Comodo which is for free use. Please let me know how to understand and use this feature as i'm new to it. Does the server has to do anything in this process related to SMIME settings..

    Hello,

Does anybody know how to tell our hosting server email to send emails to our SBS 2003/Exchange server 2003?

We have a SMTP Virtual Server configured and a SmallBusiness SMTP Connector configured.

We can send and receive internal emails to exchange accounts.

We can send external emails from exchange accounts.

We cannot receive external emails through exchange.

    Thanks,
    Tony

When requesting an SSL certificate from exchange 2013 certificate generator. what format should the domain be in for the internal outlook connection and the external access, if my domain looks like these examples. "server.domain.local" and our domain name for emails is "email@anotherdomain.co.uk" do you have to put the reqeust in the format of  "server.anotherdomain.co.uk" or just "anotherdomain.co.uk"
