In the middle of a migration from 2003 - 2010
Part of the migration was changing DNS entries in the company Firewall.
I can send email from the inside to the outside but can not send to the outside to the inside
Not sure were to look.
Internal mail is working fine.
Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

Hi, I need some help about coexistence of Exchange 201 and Exchange 2013.
I have an environment with 2 Exchange Server 2010 (One HUB/CAS another MBX/HUB/CAS and Forefront for Exchange 2010) and now I have configured an Exchange Server 2013 (MBX and CAS).
For now, I have moved 3 mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 but the mailboxes cannot receive or send emails, the emails are stuck on Exchange 2010 Queue (Hub 15) with the message:
" 451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with:"421 4.4.2 Connection dropped due to SocketError." Attempted failover to alternat host, but did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate host.
I can telnet from Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2010.
I have enabled the Verbose log on Exchange 2010 Receive Connectors from both servers but in the logs there is no entry from Exchange 2013 IP.
If anyone can help me I appreciate.

I just fixed my distribution lists by unchecking 'Require that all senders are authenticated' in Message Delivery Restrictions from the Mail Flow Settings tab.
NEW e-mails moving forward are coming in.
BUT is there any way to get all the old e-mail that was not delivered back? Is it sitting somewhere and I need to go force them to get delivered somehow?

We have exchange 2010 and exchange client users.
Users who are members of distribution groups, want to move mails recevied for distribution groups in a separate folder.
After creating a rule about distribution group, mails explicitly received with to:dist.group@... are moved to the folder. But some mails doesnt contain something with the name of the dist. group. Wich kind of rule i am supposed to use ?
Is it possible to create a hub transport rule for mails received for the dist. group and add a sign in subject field ? After this i think its possible to create a rule in outlook.

I am Exchange admin in reputed organization, want to apply email message filtering which have .exe extention and compressed with rar & zip as an attachment.
some external user's send exe file in zip or rar as an attachment. guide me to stop mailing exe file in exchange organization.
I will do my best to summarize my configurations below. To begin, I am able to send/receive internally on my exchange 2013 CU1 so the mailbox enable accounts I created is good. At first I was not able to receive external email (e.g from yahoo) then I messed around with Receive Connector in EAC and got it to work momentarily. I did a few tests and it work fine until I begin to changed some settings again. Now, I cannot no longer receive external email. I tried to undo what I thought I did, and it is getting no where. Please help....below is my setup:
-domain controller running windows 2012
-another windows 2012 box with exchange 2013 CU1. Machine Name: exch2.kaytech.com IP address 192.168.2.166, internal DNS 192.168.2.161
-ISP IP: 108.202.97.64 (<<I change 1 digit here for privacy). And my ISP do not block port 25
-on my home router I have enable port forwarding to point port 25 to 192.168.2.166
-I registered my domain with godaddy: kaytech.com
So, in godaddy I logged into my account and go to the DNS Manager. In there I have these entries:
A (Host)
@ 108.202.97.64
exch2 108.202.97.64
MX (Mail Exchange)
Priority Host Points to
10 @ exch2.kaytech.com

As for my exchange 2013 configurations, I logged into the EAC and under Mailflow--> Send Connector scope SMTP with *. And I picked exch2 as the source server. As for delivery, I chose MX record instead of Smart Host and left the rest default.
Also under Mailflow--> Receive Connector --> I edit Default FrontEnd Exch2-->Scoping Network Binding Adapter, I enter 192.168.2.166 Port 25.
Next, I went into EAC-->Server. I picked my exchange server and edit DNS Lookup with the info below:
External Lookup: Custom setting IP 108.202.97.64
Internal Lookup: Custom setting IP 192.168.2.161

At this point, I am so loss so I need your expertise. I would appreciate if someone can point out if I have the correct entries in my godaddy DNS zone as well as my exchange 2013 configurations. I ran the test-servicehealth cmd and everything look good. Thanks
Is it possible to create a catch-all rule which delivers mail sent to a non- existing mail address inside the organization (*@contoso.com), to a specific mailbox?

I installed Exch 2013 and is working great - both incoming mail and outgoing mail work fine in OWA and outlook.
Problem we are having is SMTP authenticated relay. We install application on all client computers which sends emails externally/internally.
Though we had authenticated in application, we are not able to send emails externally. Internally it works fine from application.
Our backup software stopped sending notifications on failures. Literally we are logging into each and every server and making sure backups are successful.
We never had a problem with Exchange 2010
I don't want to create relay and allow my whole ipaddress range (I think that's stupid)
Can anyone please help?
okay so I've been working with Exchange Online for some time now, but I'm trying to figure some things out about working with just stand-alone Exchange 2013...no hybrid, no integration with Office 365.
It's a basic question really but I can't seem to find anything on it...what are the format that my DNS records are supposed to look like to point to the Exchange Server? (MX; CNAME; TXT).
Any answers are greatly appreciated.

I have new testing lab to play around with which is starting to drive me insane. I have exchange 2013 and outlook 2013. I can receive emails from external domains but I am unable to send emails internally or externally!
Now I would know what to look at if I couldn't send externally, But not being able to send internally has completed confused me!
anyone got any tips where to start troubleshooting for not being able to send internal mail? Once internal mail works I should then be able to get external mail working as well....

Outlook 2007/2010/2013
The approach we have thought like below .
1. Email Address format is like [RFAX:John Doe@/FN=555-555-1212]
2. Created one user mail box called "RightFax" to these fax mails.
3. Transport rule to redirect mails to "RightFax" user when recipient email address contains word "RFAX"
The issue is like below
When we send mail through outlook client it is returning undeliverable mail to sender like below
From : System Administrator
SUbject : Undeliverable
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipientsCould you please us on this.

Hi.
I need to configure a POP3 mail connector in Exchange 2013 to download email from a catch all mail acount at our ISP.
For technical reasons and because of reliability issues with our internet connection we can't put our exchange server directly on the internet and we need to make use of a POP3 global catch all mailbox and SMTP forwarder configuration.
Can somebody please explain to me how I can configure this in Exchange 2013?
I got the SMTP forwarder sorted out but the POP3 connector just does not work.
Can I set this POP3 connector up in Exchange 2013 or do I have to use a third party connector like with Exchange 2010?
We currently have a Dynamic Group, "All Staff"; I have been asked to remove Contracors from this group and still allow an Exchange account. No Filters seem to offer this option. Does the Dynamic Group only include meembers in the Active Directory Group used to setup the Dynamic Grouop? We use Managed Users for all employees.
If I create an Active Directory Group call Contract, will members be excluded from the "All Staff" Distribution Group?
Is there a better option?
